I believe Freedom is not only doing what is right but its not a rule to follow.
It's hard to believe that in the 21st Century and we the modern people are still living among those who use the Economy as a means to divide. The material means of subsistence is organised by an unequal social structure maintained by open promotion and propaganda of Discrimination based on ethnicity, gender and social status.
However, this divide is completely exposed by covid-19 social policies. At the frontline of the so-called Economy are businesses. But we have learned that during lockdown, businesses couldn't function without workers and consumers. That means at the front line of covid-19 are workers among consumers.
We all know that corvid-19 thrives in close proximity making workers and consumers vulnerable. This is proven by the fact that countries who ignored WTO health warning on sanitisation and social distancing were the worse hit. That basically opens up a dilemma between the economy and covid-19 infection.
It had exposed what we have always known: countries leaning to the right have opted to open businesses during lockdown; countries leaning to the left opted for restricted social grouping. But that confirmed their respective positions; the private business sector on the right wing of the political spectrum and workers among consumers on the left wing.
The right wing argument follows; workers among consumers need to conduct businesses and generate the economy. When the economy prospers, they can help themselves to stay alive. The left argument follows; by going to work risks contamination and possible death.
The problem is, businesses can be conducted by remote organisation. At the same time, workers among consumers in the most advanced countries with prosperous economies are struggling to make a living. Some have become homeless and live on the street. So the right wing argument is debunked.
It has also been a tradition that when there is a slowdown in economic activities, funding have always been available to business while workers among consumers endure austerity. Ok, we have just witnessed that businesses, no matter how much free money and handouts are dumped upon them, they simply cannot function without workers and consumers.
This rich welfare tradition is also exposed by social economic policies that funded not only businesses to pay their rent and power among other luxuries, but also the workers among consumers. This policy is now key to recovery in regenerating the Economy which had prevented a sharp dip to a recession. It is the most effective policy for recovery; addressing the social structure and not so much of the material economy itself.
Talk of a recession is promotional propaganda by the right to deconstruct the social organisation of the Economy allowing workers and consumers to depend on business for survival. It is merely an effort to regain power to control and dictate the means of our survival. And we know all about that as we watch live protesters in USA and elsewhere.
There is no doubt that the material Economy under Capitalism is dragging a dead horse in the modern. Funding business as a means to recover the economy only maintains the lifestyle of the owner. But funding the worker and consumer to generate business ignites the economy to grow.
However as I was saying in the beginning of this article, it's hard to believe that we the modern people who are innocent to the political ideology that the right wing has a God-given-right to dictate the means of survival even if they have to kill us in the process.
Yes, we have seen that clearly in the argument that workers among consumers should go back to work during lockdown even in the face of death.
I have referred to the modern people who are innocent to traditional ideologies of Discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, gender and social status. The modern people are more diverse, they have learned to live among differences in ethnicity, gender as well as accepting a modest lifestyle. They are free to live among others irrespective of difference.
This right wing conservative tradition is not natural; definitely not natural to modern human. This has somewhat made covid-19 a fortuitous incident to expose the malevolent nature of such traditions. If you can understand it, modern folks are helpless to understand this evil force, we are just enduring the social consequences until it goes away.
There is no guarantee that the vote will make it go away but we know very well that technology can change the outcome of elections. And that is why the way forward is super phenomenal. We have in our time innocent, brave and inspiring leaders who manage to tap into that modest portion of the brain.
I have used the term beauty in a metaphorical sense that appeals to the mind. It is intuition when you are not planning it but this super nature emerges in times of need. The inspiring leader is not laying down any laws or conditions to follow, but the very fact that he/she is present draws that portion out of our minds.
You see, there is no vaccine for covid-19 yet people have overcome infections. How many people are following rules and laws is hard to tell. But the fact is everything is right and good for the people to do what is right. It is true freedom.
And that is a social organisation by the people for the people. Under this organisation, the economy becomes a means for sustaining health, welfare and wellbeing of modern societies.
